I noticed the bit about "eight or NINE" future histories by Poul Anderson. I see you had not forgotten our debate on how we should classify the Hoka stories co-authored by Anderson and Dickson!

    1. Sean,
No, in my estimation the 9th would be the "Directorate" series of just four stories. Hoka, if we include it, would be a 10th.

I agree. It's easy to over look the Directorate stories because of how few they are. At only four short stories they are among the more obscure of Anderson's works.

The Maurai series has only three short stories, but it also includes a long novel: ORION SHALL RISE. So, it forms a substantial body of work. And THERE WILL BE TIME sort of ties in with the Maurai series as well.

I should have added that I great enjoyed reading Cordwainer Smith's Instrumentality of Mankind stories. Am I right thinking you did not quite like them?

Darn! I'm sorry about that. I would have thought the Instrumentality stories, stretching as they did from the mist of remote antiquity to the distant future, would appeal to you.
